Cirencester Parish Church will host a rare treat on Saturday 23rd October when organ duo Graham Howell and Gareth Price play a fundraising concert in aid of The Campaign for Cirencester Parish Church.
It’s all too easy to think of the organ as only a solo instrument. On 23rd October, audiences at Cirencester Parish Church will get twice the talent for their money as acclaimed duo, Graham Howell and Gareth Price push the instrument to its limits in a concert of organ duets.
Raising money for The Campaign for Cirencester Parish Church, Howell and Price (known as Pipedreams) will play a programme of well-known works including Mars from Holst’s Planet Suite and The Toreador’s Song from Carmen. They promise audiences something “totally different from any other organ recital that you’ve ever been to…”.
Forming part of their 25th Anniversary concert schedule, the duo have played venues including St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and other cathedrals such as Winchester, Westminster, Coventry and Worcester. They have also performed in Ireland and at the Three Choirs’ Festival, as well as being featured on both BBC television and radio. Their latest CD was widely acclaimed with reviewers stating, “The organ [parts] are thrown around with great gusto by Price and Howell, who obviously revel in the music. Their playing is excellent!”
Campaign for Cirencester Parish Church Manager, Alison Giles said; “We are absolutely delighted that Graham and Gareth are showing their support for The Campaign, and the church, in this way. The concert promises to be a unique experience. Not only will we be treated to music from two expert performers, playing one of the finest instruments in the UK, but we will all get to enjoy it in the fantastic setting that is Cirencester Parish Church.”
Tickets are available on the door and are priced at £8, which includes a pre-concert drink.
The concert will be held in Cirencester Parish Church on Saturday 23rd October 2010, at 19:30.
The concert running time will be approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
